Who Is This For?
The academy is ideal for new or aspiring team managers and team leaders, or those who have been promoted but not received any training yet.
This is not one of those online training platforms where you spend all your time on the computer. You literally watch the instructional video, print off the relevant worksheet/guide and implement it straight-away - It's all about action!

The Modules
The academy has 12 modules. The modules are similar to the ones we deliver during our one-day in-person training courses. The only difference is that, in this academy, we are able to go deeper into the subject because we aren't restricted to the usual 09:00 - 17:00 timings. The modules are as follows:
- Managing People
- Leading People
- Managing Time More Effectively
- Communication Skills
- Recruitment the Best (and Keeping Them)
- Culture and Managing Change
- Introduction to HR Skills
- Coaching Team Members
- Working Within a Team
- Dealing With Difficult People and Conversations
- Meeting and Appraisal Skills
- Mentoring Skills

Supporting Information
Each module above is split into various relevant sections. Each section comes with at least one video tutorial from Adrian Close (introduction below). In the videos, the learner will be guided through the topic in a logical order. Most videos come with supporting information, a work sheet and tasks for each learner to complete. There are areas where the learners can pause the video and complete the work. The activities are designed to make a difference immediately and we've always had great feedback.

The Virtual Support
All the learners join a private support group. Each week (except for some annual leave) there is an opportunity for everyone to ask any questions they have relating to the module they are working through. The questions are posed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, then answered on Thursdays.
The Q&A sessions are recorded and posted in the group so for those that can't make it, for any reason, they can watch it when it's convenient for them. This is the great thing about the academy - the learning fits around the learners, not the other way around.
There will also be the opportunity to join in on live Zoom sessions which are designed to offer more support - these are towards the end of the month.
-
Accountability
With all the training we deliver (in person, virtual and online), it's vital that the learners are held accountable for achieving the training goals set out at the beginning of the program.
Within the academy, the learners are held accountable in two ways. Firstly, there is an accountability group where the learners are held accountable by the tutor. Secondly, there is a pack available to download for the learners line manager which explains where the learner should be at any given time and what they should have achieved. We encourage every learner to book one hour per month with their line manager or HR support specialis to discuss how the training is making an impact and what they are currently working on
-
The Guarentee
At the beginning of module one (Managing People), the learners are encouraged to have a personal goal of becoming everyone's favourite manager. We are convinced that this will happen. If it doesn't, we'll return the money. Obviously, there are some terms and conditions which are listed at the bottom of this page.
Adrian Close - Multi-award winning business manager and Leadership Trainer Consultant
I also deliver a 12 month in-person training program which challenges the way leaders think!
Hello, I'm Adrian.
With over two decades of experience as a leadership and management training consultant, I've had the privilege of delivering comprehensive training courses across the UK and Europe. My expertise spans leadership, management, coaching, and HR training.
What sets me apart is my hands-on experience as a multi-award-winning manager, both for others' businesses and my own. I believe in teaching from real-life experiences rather than abstract theories. For instance, I once represented myself in an industrial tribunal court and won – a testament to the importance of structured HR management.
In my in-person training sessions, I focus on my 12-month action-focused leadership and management program, the cornerstone of this academy. However, I've noticed a growing demand from individuals across industries and countries who seek to join an open leadership program. Unfortunately, the in-person sessions I run are closed courses just for the company I'm delivering to and accommodating such requests isn't feasible.
That's why I've established this Growth Academy – to ensure that individuals seeking personal development opportunities don't miss out.
A bit more about me:
Beyond my consulting and training work, I've published six physical books, including two hiking guides, and developed a range of training tools, workbooks, and team-building activities distributed globally through my online bookstore - the LearnPro Supply Hub. Outside of work, you'll often find me exploring the hills of the Peak District, Lake District, and north Wales.
Recently, I obtained certification as a Hill and Moorland Leader and am working toward becoming an International Mountain Leader. I'm also deeply involved in community service, volunteering with a local Duke of Edinburgh award group and dedicating some of my time to supporting inner city children on week-long outdoor adventures at Plas Y Brenin in North Wales.
That's a glimpse into who I am. I'm excited to welcome you to the academy and embark on this journey together.
